UIDAI to Allow Aadhaar Updates Online Without Centre Visits From November 2025

In a major push toward digital identity reform, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to roll out a powerful update that will allow citizens to update their Aadhaar information online without visiting physical enrolment centres – Aadhaar update online 2025.

This long-anticipated change will be effective from November 2025, revolutionizing how residents manage and share their Aadhaar credentials.

🆕 What’s Changing with Aadhaar Updates?

Currently, certain Aadhaar updates—such as name, gender, and date of birth—require a visit to an Aadhaar enrolment/update centre. Only address updates were allowed online until now.

From November 2025 onward, UIDAI will allow the following updates online:

  • 📞 Mobile number
  • 🧑 Name
  • 🗓️ Date of birth
  • 🏡 Address

✅ The only offline requirement will be for biometric authentication: fingerprint and iris scans.

🧠 Why This Matters:

UIDAI’s latest update aims to:

  • ✂️ Reduce paperwork
  • 🚫 Eliminate risk of fake documents
  • 📲 Enable citizens to update Aadhaar entirely online
  • 🛡️ Maintain data security and individual control

According to UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, “You will soon be able to do everything sitting at home other than providing fingerprints and IRIS.”

📱 New UIDAI Mobile App: Aadhaar at Your Fingertips

Along with these changes, UIDAI will launch an upgraded mobile app featuring:

  • 📄 Full and masked Aadhaar sharing via QR codes
  • 🔒 Permission-based data access
  • 🧾 Seamless online updates of demographic details

This QR system will allow individuals to share their Aadhaar data securely, ensuring privacy control and traceability, especially in fraud-prone sectors like property registration.

🔐 Aadhaar QR Code: More Power to the People

The QR code feature is at the heart of UIDAI’s data protection plan:

  • Allows permission-based data sharing
  • Enables quick verification by hotels, security firms, and service providers
  • Eliminates the need for physical photocopies

UIDAI is encouraging state governments and private organizations to use this digital validation model for secure identity verification.

Step 1: Login to myAadhaar portal by entering your Aadhaar number, captcha code and OTP.
Step 2: After logging in, select the option ‘Address Update’ tab.
Step 3: On the next tab, click on ‘Update Aadhaar Online’ tab.
Step 4: Read the guidelines and click the ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’ button.
Step 5: Select ‘Address’ and click ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’.
Step 6: In the online form, the current address will be displayed. Scroll down and enter ‘Care of’ (father’s name or husband’s name), enter the new address, select the post office, select the proof of address document from the ‘Valid Supporting Document Type’ dropdown list, upload the document and click ‘Next’.

🔧 Behind the Scenes: Data Integration with Public Systems

To support this online transition, UIDAI is integrating databases across government platforms. Key sources include:

  • 🏥 Birth certificates
  • 🪪 PAN cards
  • 🛂 Passports
  • 🚘 Driver’s licenses
  • 🛒 PDS (Ration Card)
  • 🛠️ MNREGA

UIDAI is also discussing integration with electricity bill systems to streamline address verifications.
